FPSC has officially rescheduled the CSS MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT) for CSS Competitive Examination 2027.
The MPT will now be held on Saturday, 10 October 2026 instead of the previously announced date of Sunday, 27 September 2026.
This was confirmed in FPSC's Public Notice reference F.2-2/2027(MPT)/CE-II dated 19 August 2026. The rescheduling was made due to the announcement of a protest on 27 September 2026. FPSC stated the change was made for the convenience of CSS CE-2027 aspirants and to ensure smooth and orderly conduct of the test.
What changed:
The MPT test date has moved from 27 September 2026 to 10 October 2026. That is an additional 13 days of preparation time for all registered candidates.
What did not change:
Everything else remains exactly as announced in the original FPSC Public Notice dated 2 August 2026. Eligibility criteria, age limits, the application process, fee structure, examination centres, and all other terms and conditions are unchanged.
If you applied and paid your fee before the August 20 deadline, your registration remains valid. You do not need to reapply or pay any additional fee.

If you are a registered MPT candidate, two things matter immediately.
First, update your personal schedule. The 13 extra days between the old and new date is additional preparation time. Use it. The MPT covers all six compulsory CSS subjects in MCQ format and the passing threshold is 33 percent. Candidates who use this additional time for structured past paper practice will have a meaningful advantage.
Second, download your admission certificate when it becomes available. FPSC uploads admission certificates on fpsc.gov.pk approximately 10 days before the test. For the October 10 test date, this means the certificate should be available around late September or early October. Check the FPSC portal regularly.
Your examination centre cannot be changed once your roll number has been issued.
If you have not already decided on your optional subjects for the written examination, the additional two weeks before the MPT is the right time to finalize that decision. Optional subject selection for the written examination application opens November 10 and closes November 25. That is the most consequential decision in your CSS preparation.
The CSSNorthstar assessment uses six years of FPSC result data from 2020 to 2025 to match your academic background, domicile, and target service group to the subject combination most likely to perform for your specific profile. Complete it before November 10 so your application reflects a data-backed decision rather than a last-minute guess.
